Multiple pages for comments?

Can anyone think of a wp theme that does multiple pages for comments?  Thinking about how to do this and would like to see a theme that does this already so I can learn from it.

Is there?  I sat in google for about 5 minutes without finding one.  Didn't see anything in the wp.org db either.

I was going along the lines of "wordpress plugin paged comments"  Didn't think of using 'paginate'.

edit: Also it appears that a rewrite of the comment.php is required.

This one would be better since it allows for threaded comments as well but it's not updated for 2.5:
