Taxonomy question

After upgrading to the 2.3 code, do you delete the sync-taxonomy.php file?  I get post2cat errors by the ton with that file in our mu-plugins subdirectory.  Seems to work fine without it.

Well I saw someone's posts here.   

Also can someone please verify if this is a bug or not - I add in a category via the right hand side tab on the Write posts page.  It adds the category but does not add the check mark to it. (Actually kicks out with an error)
